The Retezat National Park is a must for avid hikers and nature lovers. It is a true rocky fortress in the Carpathian Mountains, with 20 peaks over 2000 meters high. There is also the third highest peak in Romania – the Peleaga peak with a height of 2509 meters. Hiking in Retezat is a truely unique experience. Paths and routes meander in between more than 80 glacial lakes. For this reason, Retezat is also known as the “land with blue eyes”. Here are just few possible attractions in this beautiful park:
